Born in Chicago, IL, July 9, 1871. Son of Alexander Lawrence (native of Ireland, came to U. S. at age 16) and Jane Clark Morrison. Educated, public schools of Chicago and after coming to the West with parents, graduated from St. Michael's College, at Santa Fe, N. M., 1890. Studied law in office of Senator Thomas B. Catron at Santa Fe and in the fall, 1892, was admitted to practice there. In 1893, moved to Prescott, Arizona, where served as Asst. Dist. Attorney of Yavapai County three years; then formed law partnership with brothel', Robert E. Morrison, with whom practiced until 1906, when moved to Bisbee and practiced alone, handling much business in Mexico, personally appearing before the Supreme Court of Mexico, being thoroughly versed in the Spanish language. February 1910, appointed U. S. Attorney for the Territory of Arizona by President Taft and after Arizona became a state, 1912, again appointed U. S. Attorney for the state of Arizona. Between these appointments, was appointed Special Asst. to U. S. Attorney General, during which period he organized Federal District Court of Arizona in connection with Judge Wm. M. Morrow, U. S. Circuit Judge. Served in these positions until Feb. 1914; during this period handled many extremely important matters, some of which were international in character. Upon expiration of term of office, located in Phoenix, where has since practiced law, which extends over the state. Has frequently appeared before U. S. Supreme Court. Fervent supporter Republican Party; has done effective campaign work. Marked oratorical powers and in great demand as public speaker. Affiliated: Maricopa County, Arizona State and California State Bar Associations and the Bar of the U. S. Supreme Court; Arizona Club and Past Exalted Ruler, Lodge No. 330, B. P. O. Elks. At Prescott, July 2, 1937, married Mrs. Molly C. Crenshaw, of N. J. Is a master of his profession and distinguished for the high order of his legal ability. His eminent attainments have given him prestige among the prominent citizens of Arizona, Now associated with well known law firm of Armstrong, Kramer, Morrison, Roche and Duffy, First Nat'l Bank Bldg., Phoenix, Arizona.
