He became a resident of Mohave County in 1872 and was the second or third county attorney of this county. He died at Kingman in April 1922. The mother was a well educated woman and was the first teacher in the public schools of Mohave County. To Mr. and Mrs. Blakely were born five children. Ross H. Blakely attended the public schools of Mohave County, and in 1879, when but sixteen years of age, became interested in the stock business in which he continued until 1894 when he turned his attention to the insurance business at Kingman. In 1897 he was appointed Clerk of the District Court by Judge Sloan, in which capacity he served until 1907. In that year he engaged in the insurance and abstract business and during those years he held a number of deputyships in the various offices of the court house, and also served as County Examiner from 1909 to 1911. He had in 1890 studied law with his brother in Jackson, Michigan and in October 1910 was admitted to the bar of Arizona. In 1922 he was elected County Attorney and so ably did he discharge the duties of that office that in 1926 he was elected Judge of the Superior which position he is still filling. Judge Blakely has been married twice, first in October 1887 to Isabella Bonelli, who died on June 26, 1889 leaving a daughter, Mary Isabella, who is the wife of Charles M.
