CHARLES P. COOLEY Navajo Co. Az One of the leading merchants of Holbrook is Charles P. Cooley, who has been engaged in the lumber business here for the past ten years and has met with very gratifying success. He was born in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona on the 30th day of January 1882 and is a son of Colonel C.E. and Mary (Coyetero) Cooley. His father, who saw many years of active service in the U.S. Army and rose to the rank of colonel died in 1921. To him and his wife were born six children, of whom Charles P. is the fourth in the order of birth. He was educated in the public schools of Show Low and had two years work in the State Normal School at Flagstaff. On leaving school he engaged in the cattle business which he carried on for twenty years and then, in 1919 he engaged in the lumber business in Holbrook. He carries a large and complete line of lumber of all kinds as well as dimension stuff and has built up a large business, founded on fair dealing, prompt service and the right quality of material. In 1922 Mr. Cooley was united in marriage to Margarite Cousins, a native of New Mexico and they have one child, Everett aged four years. Mr. Cooley is a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and various local civic and social organizations. He is genuinely interested in everything that in any way effects the public welfare and stimulates the prosperity of the city and vicinity. Cordial and pleasant in manner, he easily makes friends and is regarded as one of Holbrook's proessive and substantial men.
