W.E. FERGUSON Navajo County History of Arizona page 500 During the past twelve years W.E. Ferguson has held a foremost place among the lawyers of Navajo County, being a capable and conscientious practitioner, and his record here has gained for him the respect of all who know him. He was born in Latham, Butler County, Kansas on July 13, 1884 and is a son of W.A. and Sarah A. (Barker) Ferguson, the former of whom devoted his active life to farming pursuits. Both parents are deceased, the father passing away in 1913 and the mother in 1927. Mr. Ferguson attended the public schools of Kansas and Arkansas and entered Valparaiso University in Indiana, where he attended until 1904. In that year he took up the study of law and in 1910 on examination in Santa Ana, Calf, he was admitted to the bar of that state. He entered his profession in Santa Ana, where he remained two years, and then moved to Los Angeles. In the latter place he built up a good practice during the five years in which he was located there and in 1917 came to Holbrook, where he has been engaged in his profession to the present time. He has shown a ready familiarity with the law and its application, is a safe and dependable counselor and during the years of his practice here has been successful. On October 7, 1907 he was united in marriage to Lula A. Crisp of Santa Ana, California and they are the parents of five children: Dorris E., who is a senior in the University of Arizona; Delmer E., Frank W., Helen L. and W.E. Jr. Mr. Ferguson is a member of Holbrook Lodge No. 6 F&AM; Winslow Lodge No. 536, BPOE and Liberty Chapter No. 23 OES and is also affiliated with the Navajo County Bar Assc. and the Arizona State Bar Assc. He is a lover of outdoor life, hunting being his favorite form of recreation.
