ERNEST S. HULET Ernest S. Hulet, superintendent of the Arizona Cooperative Mercantile Institution, is one of Holbrook's enterprising, wide-awake and practical business men and has been a real factor in the notable growth of the company's business at this place. He was born at Snowflake, Navajo Co. on the 20th of March 1900 and is a son of John R. and Dena (Smith) Hulet, the latter of whom is a daughter of Jesse N. Smith. John R. Hulet was superintendent of the Arizona Cooperative Mercantile Institution from its organization at Woodruff and Holbrook. Of their five children, Ernest S is the second in order of birth. He attended the grade and high schools of Snowflake and prepared for a business career by taking the commercial course in the Latter Day Saints Business College at Salt Lake City from which he graduated in 1921. He came back to Holbrook to clerk in the Arizona Cooperative Store and has been identified with this institution since. He was made manager of the Holbrook store in 1926 and so efficient was he in handling that business that in January 1929 he was made superintendent of all the company's stores. Mr. Hulet was married to Viva Elton of Lethbridge, Alberta Canada on October 27. 1927. He is a member of the Knights of Pythias and Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and his religious connection is with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, to the faith of which he is loyal, while he is generous to its support. He is fond of fishing and hunting, the out doors appealing to him strongly. He is pleasant and courteous in his relations with the trade, is absolutely fair in all of his dealings and enjoys friendly relations with all who know him.
