O.L. MURRAY History of Arizona, page 512 One of the most useful members of the City Council of Winslow is O.L. Murray, who has for many years been a valued employee of the Santa Fe Railroad at this place. He was born at Springerville, Apache County, Arizona on January 30, 1895 and is a son of James D. and Nancy E. Murray, the former of whom was a stockman. Mr. Murray attended the public schools of his hometown and the high school at Phoenix and in 1912 he engaged in the livestock business in partnership with his brother at Springerivlle. In 1916 he went to Winslow and entered the employ of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad as a fireman but in 1917 he enlisted for service in the World War, joining the One Hundred and Fifty Eighth Infantry Regiment, Fortieth Division. He went overseas in August 1918 and was in active service there until the close of the war. He was honorably discharged in May 1919 as a mechanic and soon afterwards reentered the employ of the Santa Fe line in his former position as Fireman. In 1925 he was promoted to engineer and has run an engine regularly since that time. On October 1920 he married Lulu Cooper of Gallup, New Mexico and they are the parents of two children, Patricia Jean and O.
