LUCIAN B. OWENS Lucian B. Owens is one of those, who having been born and reared in Holbrook, have not sought their fortunes elsewhere but have wisely and loyally remained in their home community and are meeting with a very satisfactory measure of success. Mr. Owens was born here on the 28th day of February 1898 and is the third in order of birth of the five children who were born to Clarence and Ella (Hatch) Owens. His father, who came to Arizona in 1870, was engaged in the sheep business for many years but retired from active business pursuits in 1925 and now resides in Holbrook. Lucian B. Owens attended the public schools and the Holbrook High School and had one year in the State Normal School at Flagstaff and one year in Weber College, at Ogden Utah. On returning home from school he became associated wit his father but later joined the State Highway Department, with which he was connected for three years. He ran a rilling station for one year and was made manager of the Rio Grande Oil Company here on January 1, 1928 and still occupies that position. By his uniform courtesy and accommodation he has gained a host of loyal friends, has built up a flattering business and is regarded as an enterprising and up-to-date business man. On July 3, 1918 Mr. Owens was united in marriage to Ida Standiford, a daughter of John and Ida (Palmer) Standiford of Mesa, Az and they are the parents of three children: Stan, aged nine years, Harmon, aged seven years and Gertrude aged four years. Mr. Owens is a member of the Knights of Pythias and his religious faith is that of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is sincere in all of life's relations, has proven himself a citizen of high ideals and enjoys the respect of all who have had business dealings with him.
