Book Title: Polk's Arizona Pictorial Gazetteer And Business Directory

  SNOWFLAKE. Pop 600. Navajo county. Settled by a Mormon Colony in 1878. One of
the most beautiful little hamlets in the state situated in the center of an
agricultural and foraging district for both cattle and sheep 28 miles s of
Hoi-brook on the A T & S F Ry the shipping point. Has a Latter Day Saints church
and Academy, the latter to occupy a new building costing $30,000, which affords
a four years' high school course, a thrifty district school, good water supply,
an ideal climate, a bank, a flour mill and 3 hotels. Snowflake's ideal situation
climate and freedom from social evils fit it primarily for a school town and
students wishing to graduate in the courses prescribed can find no better place.
Land can be obtained by purchase at a reasonable figure or by homestead entry.
The principal soil product is alfalfa which commands a good price.
