C.L. WHITE Feb 15, 1898 Last week a young man named C.L. White was run over by a passenger train at Holbrook and died a few hours later. He was waving "good bye" to his friend C.M. Clark and just at that moment the coach struck the switch and he lost his balance, falling off the platform and under the wheels. Depot officials were notified and Dr. R.C. Dryden, the Sante Fe Pacific surgeon at Winslow came on a special engine to Holbrook. He examined the unforutnate man and found a terrible injury on the head, besides the right leg mangled off above the knee and the left leg cut off above the ankle. He and Clark were partners in a projectorscope show and had just returned to Holbrook from a tirp through the Navajo country. His parents reside in San francisco and the father came on to take charge of the remains. Alonzo Hailey, a wealthy merchant of Globe, as an uncle of the deceased. White's partner, Clark was a Prescott man but lived more recently in Jerome. While White was in Jerome, Clark bought out White's partner and had been two months on the road with the man who was killed.
