Mrs. A.M. Bernard Arizona Silver Belt November 16, 1899 The Arizona Star announces the death of Mrs. A.M. Bernard, which occurred Nov. 12 at the home of her son, Hon. N.W. Bernard in Tucson. The senior proprietor of the Sliver Belt has been acquainted with the Bernard fmily for many years, esteeming them as among his most cherished friends. He knew the progenitor of the family, Joab Bernard, in St. Louis, fifty years ago, and the friendship then formed continued to the time of his death and during the residence of the family in New Mexico and Tucson up to the present time. We take the following from the obituary notice published in the Star of the 14th: Mrs. A.M. Bernard, who was 84 years of age, was the mother of A.C. and N.W. Bernard, Mrs. Aguirre and Mrs. Jessie Byrne, all of Tucson. Mrs. Benrard's home was in Westport, Mo. where the family who are so well and favorably known in Arizona, were born and raised. She has spent several winter seasons in Tucson with her sons and daughters and although past 80 years she was hale and hearty to within a very short time of her death, which was as peaceful as it was sudden. N.W. Bernard and wife and Mrs. Byrne are at Honolulu, where they went a short time since for Mrs. Bernard's health. They will be shocked to learn of her sudden death as she was in excellent health when they left this city. It was the desire of Mrs .Bernard to be buried in Missouri in the faimly burying grounds near Kansas City. A.C. Benrard left for the old home with the remains this morning.
