THOMAS DUNBAR Arizona Republican Newspaper June 18, 1892 Thomas Dunbar, of Tres Alamos, one of the best known and highly respected citizen of the territory died yesterday morning at the Orndorff in Tucson. The cause was congestion of the brain and his severe illness was of but few days duration. Early on the evening before his death it was apparent he could live but a few hours. His wife and brother, John O. Dunbar, of this city, together with other relatives and friends of the deceased were by the bedside when the separation took place at 1 am. The deceased was 48 years of age and a native of Calais, Maine for the past twenty years had resided in this territory. Several appointments to public office were refused by him but he was twice elected a member of the legislature and was at the time of his death the representative of Cochise County. He was largely interested in stock raising and championed the cause of the cattlemen during his legislative career. Mr. Dunbar was a kind father, a faithful friend and charitable to his enemies who were few in number. He leaves a wife, amply provided for and five sons to mourn his loss. He will be buried in Tombstone this evening.
