HAM GEE Arizona Republican Newspaper June 27, 1897 For several years an old Chinaman named Ham Gee has been prospecting around Steeple Rock. Recently he with a couple of other Chinamen has been living in a cabin some distance from the village of Steeple Rock. His two partners came into Steeple Rock to visit with some of their fellow countrymen. On Sunday, the 13th, his dogs came in and seemed to try and attrack the attention of one of his partners, Charlie Hay, but did not make him understand what he wanted. Tuesday the partners went out to the camp and found the old man sitting in the doorway of the cabin with a bowl of rice between his legs and a bullet wound in his breast. He was dead. The things in the cabin were all turned upside down, the murderer evidently having gone through it on a hunt after valuables. His partners were arrested for the killing but they were discharged as it was evident they were in Steeple Rock at the time he was killed.
