COLONEL HOLDEN January 23, 1897 Colonel Holden died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson Tuesday of pneumonia. The deceased as an old Arizonian and had been for many years mining in the Oro Blanco district where he had some good properties. Hard drinking, however, got the best of Col. Holden and this, with a severe attack of pneumonia, was more than his worn out body could stand. The deceased was a native of New York and was well connected. He came to the Pacific coast after the war where he had for some time been in the practice of law. He was 64 years of age and came to Arizona more than twenty years ago and was a generous, whole-souled man, with some peculiarities, but a good man and was his own worst enemy. His remains were interred Wednesday.
