WILLIAM A. POOLE Arizona Republican Newspaper July 17, 1897 The accidental killing of William A. Poole in the Mohawk Mine was received in this city yesteray. He was with Thomas Hall and Mr. James, engaged in timbering a slope at a pont about fifty feet from the 100 foot level. A big stull was beng put in place the work was almost completed when suddenly the cave-in ocucrred which resulted in the death of Mr. Poole. It so happened that he was holding up the lower end of the stull and was caught directly under the falling rock. Death was instantaneous. His companions who had miraculously escaped hastened to his rescue but he was unconscious nad died befroe the service could be reached. A telegram was sent here by way of Wilcox advising friends of the terrible and distressing accident and this morning the body of the dead boy was brought to town for burial. It was accompnaied by the sorrowing father, brothers and friends.
