DR. MARK A. RODGERS
History of Arizona, 1898

Dr. Mark A. Rodgers, of Tucson, Arizona, although young in 
years, is thoroughly equipped for the successful practice 
of this most noble of callings, has the confidence and 
esteem of his brethren and is building up a desirable 
practice as a result of his superior attainment.  He was 
born in the east, in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 
February 5, 1866 and in that place secured a good high 
school education.  A desire for a professional life and a 
love for the study of medicine caused him to select that 
as his chosen calling and when twenty years old he entered 
the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania, 
Philadelphia, from which institution he was graduated in 
1890.  Soon after he began practicing in his native city 
and for thirteen months was resident physician of 
Allegheny General Hospital.  Still later he became Chief 
Chemical Assistant and Asst. Gynecologist to Dr. R. 
Stromburg, Sutton, Gynecologist of the Hospital of 
Pittsburgh and that position he filled for two years.  
Here he became thoroughly familiar with Adominoscopy and 
Gynecological surgery and soon had a very large practice 
in this line for himself.  Dr. Rodgers has written a 
great many papers on this subject and reported some 
very difficult and successful operations. He was a 
member of the Allegheny County Medical Society and 
Secretary of the Pittsburgh Obstetrical Society, 
also Fellow of the Pittsburgh Academy of Medicine.

In the year 1895, in the month of June, Dr. Rodgers came 
to Tucson Arizona seeking a milder climate for his health 
and satisfied that he had found what was wanted, decided 
to make his permanent home here. He has built up a fine 
practice and stands at the head of his profession in 
Arizona.
