Peter Ryan Arizona, The Youngest State, 1913, pg 311 Peter Ryan is known is commercial circles in Phoenix with the sale of vehicles and farm machinery. He has traveled largely over this country but in 1907 came to Phoenix determined to make his home here. He is a native of Edwardsville, Illinois, born November 1,2 1867. His youthful days brought him the usual experiences of the farm lad who aids in the work of the fields, assisting in plowing, planting and harvesting. He did not desire to make farming his life work and began traveling for the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company which he represented in Minnesota for thirteen years. He then went to Spokane Washington as manager for the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company, his territory covering the northwest. In this connection he became well known to the farm implement trade and gained knowledge of the business. His brother, M.J. Ryan was with the Deer and Weber Company of Minneapolis. In 1907 Peter Ryan arrived in Phoenix and in the spring of 1908 established the business with his brother, M.J. but in 1914 purchased his brother's interest. He has a store fifty by one hundred and thirty-seven and a half feet and handles a full line of farm machinery including the best makes upon the market. In 1894 Mr. Ryan married Miss Margaret E. Murphy, of LeSueur Minnesota and they became the parents of six children.
