He had been in Arizona for the last twenty five years and is an old timer on the coast, having lived in California and Nevada in the days of the gold excitement. He was a resident of Tombstone in its lively early history and has a large acquaintance all over the territory. His most highly prized keepsake was a letter he received once from Queen Victoria in answer to a letter he wrote to her bearing the information that he enjoyed the honor of having been born the same day she was. It was not supposed that Mr. Empey had living relatives, though it was known that he was one of a family of eleven children and that he was born in Canada. Since his death a letter was found among his effects bearing date less than a month ago and written from Montreal by an older brother. The writer states that he is well to do and extends an invitation to Mr. Empey to come to Montreal and make his home with him. But as is so frequently the case, the letter came too late.
