W.B. SHEIVLEY History of Arizona, page 519 One of the best known citizens of Ash Fork, Yavapai County is W.B. Sheivley, who after many years of active and successful effort is now retired and enjoying a well earned leisure. He was born in Duncannon, Perry County, Pennsylvania on the 23rd day of November 1855 and is a son of W.T .and Elizabeth Sheivley. His father, who died in 1889 was a carpenter, cabinetmaker and wheelwright. Mr. Sheivley attended the public schools of his native state, and in 1878 when twenty two years of age, went to Colorado of which state he was a resident for nine years. In 1887 he arrived in Flagstaff Arizona and accepted a position as foreman, having charge of the railroad tracks of the Arizona Timber and Lumber Company. On June 6, 1891 he went to Prescott and went to work for the Comer Mining Company, putting in railroad tracks of which he later had charge. In October of that year he joined a surveying crew on the Santa Fe, Prescott and Phoenix Railroad, now a part of the A.T. and S.F. Railroad, which surveyed the route from Ash Fork to Phoenix and in 1892 he went to work for the railroad at the latter place. In 1897 he established a store at Seligman and two years later opened another store at Providence but in 1902 sold that and returned to Ash Fork where he re-entered business. He conducted this with marked success until 1909 when he sold his commercial interests and retired.
