OLD CONGRESS, A PIONEER CEMETERY 1887, CONGRESS, YAVAPAI COUNTY, ARIZONA

Recorded by Virginia L. McMeans and Sharon J. Pearson in November 1996 by walking the cemetery.

This cemetery, as well as the newer cemetery, is South of Hwy 93 on Ghost town Rd. in Congress,
Arizona.  The site is in amongst hills near the old mine.  There are at least 100 graves,
mostly unlabeled.  Eight graves are surrounded by highly decorative wrought iron fences and
two are surrounded by decorative wooden fences which are seriously weathered.  Other graves are
surrounded and/or covered by stones, some completely covered by cacti.
