J.P. BRUCE September 11, 1897 Arizona Republican Newspaper J.P. Bruce, freighter, was drowned while crossing Wolf Creek, four miles from Mayer, this afternoon. George P. Harrington of Crowned King escaped. He was washed against a tree. Bruce's body, the team and buckboard have not been found. Heavy rains have fallen throughout the county all day.
