J.L. FISHER August 1, 1897 Arizona Republican Newspaper Hon. J.S. Fisher died this morning of peritonitis after an illness of four days. He was 51 years of age, had been a resident of this county twenty eight years and leaves a wife and three children. He was a general merchant and a director of the Prescott National Bank. He had been a member of the legislature, a member of the Board of Supervisors and was once mayor of Prescott. He belonged to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Knights of Pythias and the Woodmen of the World. His funeral will take place Monday morning. Mr. Fisher was a native of England but before coming to Arizona had lived for some time in British Columbia where he learned the printer's trade. He was at one time engaged on the Miner at Prescott as a printer and again as a reporter.
