WILLIAM RICHARDSON Arizona Republican Newspaper December 19, 1898 Wiliam Richardson, a former resident of Sonoma County, California, was found dead in the Verde Valley a few days ago. He had been engaged in mining in the Balck Hills and started in the big storm to walk to the Verde Valley and is supposed to have been overcome by the storm and frozen to death. December 22 ,1898 Billy Richardson, who was found dead in the Verde Valley last week, it appears had left his camp in the Black Hills, whre he was doing some mining assessment work and had starated for the ranch of D.J. Marr on friday or Saturday in the storm. Becoming tired and exhausted he had sat down to rest and died from exposure. There was no sign of any struggle. He had from all appearances put his hands in his bosom to keep them warm as he had in his pocket a pair of wet buckskin gloves. He had $51.70 in cash in his pocket, a good silver watch and a gold or plated locket and chain and several other little articles. He was about 40 or 42 years of age and formerly lived in Sonoma County, California and was the foreman of Acker and Walker and after they sold out to Smith and Bashford continued to run their stock. He woned the interesest in several mines with J.L. and D.J. Marr of Verde Valley. It is thought he has realtives living at Fortuna nad Guerneville, Sonoma County, California.
