George H. Scammell of Prescott received a telegram yesterday from 
his mother in New York conveying the sad intelligence of the death 
of his father, which occurred there very suddenly at 8:30 o'clock 
last night.  While Mr. Scammell was aware of his father's illness 
he was not expecting or prepared for the receipt of this news, 
which has completely unnerved him.

Deceased was 64 years old. He will be buried at St. Johns, 
New Brunswick on Wednesday.
