JOSEPH WALKER February 28, 1897 Word as received here yesterday of the death in Yavapai County of Joseph Walker. Mr. Walker was one of the oldest pioneers of Arizona. He came to the territory from Jackson County, Missouri in 1862 and was among the early sheriffs of Yavapai County when to be a sheriff in Arizona was like leading a forlorn hope in a military charge. He was a brother-in-law of Secretay Herbert of the Department of the Navy.
