W.C. WHITE Arizona Republican Newspaper September 26, 1895 Prescott: What appears to have een a cold blooded murder occurred here last night. W.C. White a freighter, was shot and killed by Jack Wren, also a freighter. A woman is supposed to have been the cause of it. Both men are married but separated from their wives. White's wife lives in Congress and Wren's in Prescott. White had called on Wren's wife and that is supposed to be the cause of the shooting. Wren, the murderer, escaped and was last seen nine miles north of Prescott at 12 midnight last night. He was afoot and it is presumed he was making for some stock on the range near Ole Peterson's Ranch, which, it is claimed, he at one time owned, but has given bill of sale for same. Should he run across the stock he will likely not hesitate to take a saddle horse. The officers, however are closing in on him from every direction. W.C. white, the murdered man, was a stepson of J.R. Morse of Mesa. He was about 32 years old and was a quiet and inoffensive man. He hd been employed at Prescott for some time as a frieghter. Mr. Morse left last night for Prescott to bring the body home and will return on this evening's train. The funeral will occur at Mesa.
