BOB ANDERSON History of Ariozna, page 484 It is doubtful if any citizen of Yuma enjoys a wider acquaintance than Bob Anderson and it also safe to say that none is more highly regarded by the people of this county than he. He has served in many official capacities in this city and conty and is now librarian of the law library and Balifff of the Superior Court. Mr. Anderson was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. on Feb. 14, 1866 and is a son of William and Harriett (Edmondson) Anderson, the former of whom is a native of Georgia. To these parents were born three children, one deceased, Bob if this review and Mrs. Sallie Irving, of Augusta, Georgia. Bob Anderson received a good education attending the public schools and graduating from the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Georgia. He came to Arizona on Feb. 16, 1881 and was in Wilcox and many other places in this state, engaged in mining work and located in Yuma in 1900. He was elected City Marshal of Yuma on April 18, 1904 and again on April 19, 1906. He resigned the office in May 1908 but was re-elected on January 5, 1909 and thus became ex-officio Tax Collector, Tax Assessor, Deputy U.S. Marshal, Deputy Coroner and Deputy Sheriff. He is now serving as Baliff of the Superior Court and is Librarian of the law library in the court house. Mr. Anderson was married to Ellen Lucky, of Georgia, a daughter of Foster and Ellen Lucky. To this union was born a daughter, Jane who was educated in the northern Texas College and the Kidd-Kee Institute after which she became a noted correspondent and writer for the larger newspapers of New York. She is now the wife of Deems Taylor, editor of Musical America and is living in Paris France. Mr. Anderson at one time prospected for "Buffalo Bill" with whom he was intimately acquainted.
