F.J. BRIENTENBACK Arizona Republican Newspaper Yuma County June 4, 1895 Two men arrived here Saturday from a trip down the river. On a sandbar about 14 miles below this village they saw a dead body and on examining they recognized it as that of F.J. Brientenback who committed suicide by jumping off the Colorado River bridge May 7, 1895. They informed Justice Duke of their find on their arrival and he dispatched two men on the following day to bury the body of the unfortunate man. The water, where the remains were found, overflows the banks and coveres a large area of land and the nearest place where the body would be interred was a high bluff four miles farther down. The body was towed to the bluff and buried and a cross placed at his head. The bluff commands a fine view for miles around and the unknown suicide has secured in death a beautiful and wild resting place on the bank of the Colorado River.
