ALBERT HARPER November 30, 1897 Arizona Republican Newspaper Wednesday morning at the Southern Pacific Hotel, Arthur Harper, millionaire miner of San Francisco and Alaska, succumbed to that dread disease consumption. His wife, physician and several San Francisco friends who accompnaied the sick man here, were in attendance at the death bed. Harper was on his way to Phoenix for which point he left Alaska last September and where he imagined he would speedily reain the health and strength snathed from him by the Arctic climate when he was seized with the illness from which he never rallied. He was taken off the train and comfortably provided for at the Southern Pacific Hotel on last Thursday at which time he could not speak above a whisper. He was a millionaire of more than ordinary note in the west, his mining operations in Alaska duirng the past few years having attracted considerable attention but he won fame through his partnershp with Joe Laiue, one of the first to strike it rich on the Klondyke and the founder of Dawson City with whose name the newspaper readers of the west are famliar.
