WILLIAM HOLBERT December 28, 1897 William Holbert, one of the original locators of the La Fortuna Mine in this county, died very suddenly on Saturday. Mr. Holbert has been in poor health for some time but his friends did not have the faintest idea that he was so near death's door. Deceased has been suffering with consumption and on the morning of his death he experienced a severe hemorrhage resulting in final dissolution. Mr. Holbert has operated in California and Arizona and had invested considerable sums in this territory particularly in Yuma County. He was the owner of the local ice plant and has disbursed a goodly sum in the improvement of a ranch near this city. Mr. Holbert was highly esteemed in this community, being of a generaous, whole souled disposition. The remains were forwarded to Michigan, the former home of the deceased.
