R.J. PERRY Arizona Republican Newspaper November 20, 1895 Yuma Sentinel: A man by the name of R.J. Perry, traveling from Los Angeles to Texas with a four horse team wagon and coach, was discovered dead last Sunday six miles east of Old Gila City on the way via Mohawk Valley. Justice Duke of this place was notified and left Monday for the scene, accompanied by Constable Jones. Only 55 cents in money was found on the dead man and a few letters bearing the above name. He was last seen passing Bedoya's Ranch about 4 o'clock Friday afternoon of last week. He was lying when found, under the tongue of the coach, just in the rear of his wagon and it is thought that when he retired he had an attack of heart disease and expired. The horses were nearly dead for water, having been three days without it. Constable Jones brought the wagons, horse and the dead body to town Monday here. It was learned that he has a couple of grandsons living in Texas and they have been written and informed of the death.
