Joseph J. Stein, who lived in Yuma from 1879 to 1892, 
died recently in Los Angeles.  He was born in
New Orleans in 1854 and served at different times 
as county recorder of Yuma County, secretary of the 
prison board and several minor offices.  Since going 
to Los Angeles he has been engaged in special 
newspaper work on the Times and Herald.
