C. Wolfe, Editor SPEAR, Charles Henry: State Harbor Commissioner. Born in the State of California, June 1st, 1862; son of Frederick August and Elizabeth Burnham Spear. Educated in public schools. In 1894 he was elected recorder of Alameda county, serving several years as custodian of that county's official records. In 1899 he received an appointment as Port Warden of the port of San Francisco. In 1903 became a member of the State Board of Harbor Commissioners of the port of San Francisco and was its president. In 1923 was reelected president of the same board. Belongs to several Masonic Orders, Native Sons of the Golden West, B. P. O. E., Odd Fellows, San Francisco Commercial Club. Married Miss Tillie Rose Guennette April 20th, 1887. Residence, 1905 Grove Street, Berkeley. Office, 900 Syndicate Building. San Francisco.
