MANGLED AND DEAD. Benjamin H. Carrick was killed about midnight, Sunday [July 17], by the Berkeley train near Golden Gate. Two hours afterward his mangled remains were found scattered along the track by one of the brakemen on a gravel train. About 11:15 o'clock Carrick had left the Three-mile House, and is said to have been intoxicated. He lived at the Stockyards, where he had been in the employ of the district roadmaster. Several years ago he was Treasurer of Storey County, Nevada. He was a member of Golden Gate Lodge, K. of P., and had children residing near Butchertown.” END Additional Comments: San Francisco Call, July 19, 1892 (Tuesday), Page 7, Column 1.
