Dexter The funeral of A.A. Dexter took place on May 8, 1890 in Oakland. The deceased was a native of Marion, Wayne, NY and his death occurred on Tuesday [6 May 1890] from cancer of the stomach. A widow, Laura Cushing Dexter, two daughters, Mrs. Charles H. Glenn of Colusa County and Mrs. C.H. Young of Kansas City, and two sons, Henry Cushing Dexter of Oakland and John Cushing Dexter of San Bernadino, CA survive. Mr. Dexter came to Oakland from Aurora, Kane, IL. and has resided in that city about seventeen years. Mr. Dexter had an interest in public affairs and was an active Republican. He belonged to the Veteran Tippecanoe Club. He was also a member of the Alameda and Contra Costa Society of Pioneers, having arrived in California by ship around Cape Horn in 1849.
