Oakland Tribune, March 10, 1902
"JACOB W. HARLAN DEAD.  Last Friday [March 7] Jacob Wright Harlan died at his 
home in this place [San Leandro] at the age of 73 years.  Harlan was a 
California pioneer and was the author of an interesting book 
entitled "California: 1846 to '88"

The deceased was born in Wayne County, Indiana.  He has been a resident of 
California since 1846 and previous to his death lived in San Leandro for a 
great many years.  He leaves a widow [Christina] and several children by a 
former husband." END
