The death of Miss Laura Harlan of San Ramoan [sic] valley has removed a noble life and one of womanhood's purest characters. Although a non-resident of Livermore, she was widely known here and universally liked. Death occurred at Oakland last Monday [June 21] morning at 1 o'clock, and the remains accompanied by the family and a large concourse of sorrowing friends, arrived in Livermore on Wednesday's forenoon train for interment in the family plot at Oak Knoll cemetery. The funeral cortege moved to the Presbyterian church where services were held by Rev. McKelvey, a Methodist minister, assisted by Rev. Burgess of Danville. Deceased was next to the eldest daughter of Mrs. Minerva Harlan, wife of the late Joel Harlan, who was closely identified with the early history of San Ramoan [sic] valley. She was aged 42 years." END Additional Comments: "The Livermore Herald" published in Livermore, Alameda County, California. Laura M. Harlan was unmarried daughter of Joel and Minerva Jane (Fowler) Harlan.
