George A. Harlan Succumbs After Illness of Several Months. Irvington. Feb. 18. George Alonzo Harlan, a pioneer resident of Alameda county, died at his home in this city after an illness of some months at the age of 79 years. For several years he resided in Stockton prior to settling in Alameda county where he lived for many years with his family. He was a stock-raiser in San Joaquin county and the San Pablo hills where he had large interests. The deceased was born in Warsaw, Indiana, where he belonged to a leading family. He was married in 1856 in San Francisco. His wife died in 1895. Four children survive him. They are: Mrs. Malinda H. West of San Leandro; Mrs. Emma H. Boyd of Irvington; James W. Harlan of Oakland, and John D. Harlan of this city. The funeral was held from the home of his son, John D. Harlan, and the services were conducted by Rev. J. Durham. The Irvington choir furnished the music. He was buried in Odd Fellows cemetery."
