Lucien P. [B.] Huff, one of the best-known capitalists in this county [Alameda], died this morning [February 19] at his residence, 474 East Fourteenth street. Huff had been ill and his death was not unexpected. He leaves a widow and two children, and a brother, Socrates Huff, the ex-County Treasurer. Lucien Huff was born at St. Joseph, Michigan, sixty-five years ago, and came to California in 1849, making his home at Mission San Jose. Some time ago he disposed of his country property, moving to East Oakland, where he died. Mr. Huff was at one time a member of the Society of California Pioneers, but resigned about two years ago. He gained considerable notoriety through being foreman of the Grand Jury that brought charges against four members of the Board of Supervisors for willful misconduct in office.” END Additional Comments: San Francisco Call, February 20, 1895 (Wednesday), Page 11, Column 5.
