Mrs. Fidelia Meek, relict of William Meek, died at the family residence in San Lorenzo on Sunday night [August 30]. She came from Michigan across the plains to Oregon in 1853, and in 1859 with her husband settled at San Lorenzo, where both died. She left surviving four children, of whom Harry W. Meek is the oldest. The funeral will take place to-morrow afternoon [September 2]. Mrs. Meek has been known by her liberality. She was a life member of the Ladies' Relief Society, and recently, gave $6000 to the California College (Baptist) at Highland Park, and not very long ago $3000 to found a "William Meek Scholarship" at Mills College. Mrs. Meek left no will, but deeded her estate to her four children prior to her death.
