STOLP DIES AT HOME. [photo of "Fred A. Stolp"] PIEDMONT, July 13. Fred A. Stolp, 60, prominent California insurance company executive, charter member of the Athenian Nile club of Oakland and the Mount Diablo Country club, died suddenly today at his home at 103 Montecello avenue from a heart attack. He had been in failing health for some time. Stolp was born at Syracuse, N.Y., and came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Stolp, to the bay region in 1888. He attended Oakland high school and one of the early University of California classes. After leaving the university he took over the insurance business founded by his father and continued as head of the firm until his death. He was active in club circles, and prominently identified with the Life Underwriters association of California. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock under the auspices of the Oakland lodge of Elks at the Albert Brown mortuary, with interment at the Chapel of the Chimes [in Oakland]. The Rev. William Nat Friend, long a friend of Stolp’s, will preach the funeral sermon in conjunction with the lodge ceremony. Stolp is survived by his widow, Mrs. Addie Harlan Stolp; a daughter, Mrs. Carmen Stolp Geldermann, and a grandson, Harlan Stolp Hemrich.” END Additional Comments: Oakland Tribune, July 13, 1932 (Wednesday), Page 15, Column 4.
