Death was due to diabetes. Ralph was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Finley Yant, former residents of Morgan Hill. He was about fourteen years old. While he had been sick for several months he was able to be up and around the house and had been up all day Monday but became much worse about nine o’clock that night and passed away at five o’clock Tuesday morning, September 19, 1916. Ralph was the fourth child of the family to die of the same dread disease. While living here Mr. and Mrs. Yant lost two children, Robert and Verna, both of whom were thirteen years old when they died. Just a few years following the death of Verna, little Winifred fell ill and in a few months passed at the age of eighteen months. All were bright, beautiful children and great sympathy is felt for the bereaved parents and only surviving brother, Leslie, who is now nineteen years old. The funeral was held at Oak Hill Cemetery, San Jose, Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. G. F. Boutwell and Mrs. William Burnett attended the funeral. Mrs. Yant is in very poor health. Additional Comments: Ralph was a son of Finley and Kate Yant. Kate passed away on January 1, 1917, just a few short months after Ralph. The Yants were in Idaho in 1900 and in Morgan Hill, Santa Clara County, California in 1910.
