San Leandro Reporter, September 19, 1930
"PRETTY WEDDING TAKES PLACE IN BROADMOOR.  Invitations were isued last week for
the wedding of Miss Verna Mae Wright and Mr. Kenneth Cowell which occurred
Saturday evening, September 13, in the home of the bride's parents, Dr. and Mrs.
Roy B. Wright, in Breed avenue, this city.

Dr. Morris of Berkeley officiated at the nuptials, for which the home was
decorated in pastel colors.  The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The bride's gown was of lovely white lace over ivory satin, made with full
flaring skirt and fitted bodice, with low V in the back, outlined from the
points over the shoulders and around the front neckline with a lace fischu.  The
veil was of ivory ulle, caught with orange blossoms, which encircled the
coiffure.  The bridal shower was of lilies of the valley and gardenias.

Mrs. Wayne Wright, a sister-in-law of the bride, was the matron of honor and
wore a gown of apricot chiffon, with which she carried Talisman roses.  Miss
Evelyn Reeves, the maid of honor, wore gren [sic] chiffon, with bodice of ecru
lace, and carried butterfly roses.  Miss Dorothy Cowell, sister of the
bridegroom, who was a bridesmaid, wore coral chiffon velvet and carried matching
roses.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Cowell are graduates of the University of California, the
bride a member of the class of '29 and her husband of the class of '28.  He is a
member of Sigma Phi Beta fraternity and Mrs. Cowell of Phi Mu Delta sorority.

Mr. Cowell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Cowell of Berkeley." END
