Jackson City (Protestant) Cemetery in Jackson, Amador County, CA Submitted by Barbara McMahon (bmcmahon@volcano.net) 1 Nov 2004 ********************************************************************** These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for non-commercial purposes, MUST obtain the written consent of the contributor, OR the legal representative of the submitter, and contact the listed USGenWeb archivist with proof of this consent. ********************************************************************** The earliest grave we could read was for Velera Morgan, died March, 1855. There are several graves from the mid 1850's and on. In the historical section of the cemetery, there are 82 unknown people buried with either tombstones that have weathered to illegibility, or there was no marker, just bricks or stones or cements surrounding a plot. Directions to the cemetery: Take California Highway 49 to Jackson. Turn at the traffic signal at historic Main Street and then turn left on North Main. About two blocks farther, Church Street intersects. Turn right on Church and the Protestant Cemetery is immediately beyond the Catholic Cemetery. The tombstones were transcribed by members of the Amador County Genealogy Society: Linda Crowell, Jan Pingree, Linda Anderson, Marj Stuart, Barbara Heard, Carolyn Fregulia and Barbara McMahon, Summer and Fall, 2004.
