They brought with them a strong work ethic and religious conviction. These settlers were among Oroville’s earliest workers, merchants, and civic leaders. According to their religious custom, Jewish persons are buried in their own cemetery. This cemetery was established April 5, 1859. This plaque is donated by Congregation Beth Israel, Chico, CA in memory of these original Jewish settlers. Proceed to Feather River Blvd. (1st light) turn left (north) onto Feather River Blvd. Cemetery is located on the left (west) side of street between a strip mall and vacant commercial building.
