For the particulars of the election for the organization of the county, the reader is referred to the chapter on that subject, and also the one on the county-seat. In the following pages will be found a brief summary of the elections that have been held in the county, giving the names of the successful candidates, and, wherever possible, the vote for each, the number of candidates, and the total vote. Footnotes are added, explaining any irregularities such as vacancies, contests, and appointments.
