We have already in the general history noted the setting off of Concow township from Oregon township as a separate school district; but this action did not necessarily imply the organization of a school. February 4, 1875, the board of supervisors again ordered that Concow township be a school district; whereupon a school was opened and money apportioned to the district by the superintendent. An excellent school-house was built at a good location two miles north of Yankee hill, near what is known as Spanishtown. The furniture is of the best patent desks, and the school has been an excellent one from the beginning. RESERVOIR DISTRICT was formed May 13, 1880, and embraces all the northern part of Concow township from a line two miles north of the Concow school-house. A very neat school-house has been erected at a good location, near the Mullin hotel, and in sight of the Spring-valley reservoir, and furnished with the best style of desks. The school numbers seventeen pupils. Additional Comments: Extracted from: HISTORY OF BUTTE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, IN TWO VOLUMES. I. HISTORY OF CALIFORNIA FROM 1513 TO 1850. BY FRANK T. GILBERT.
