Mine Owner Dies



Chico (Butte Co.) January 2. William Straughan, reputed millionaire, a native 

of England and resident of Australia, died yesterday at the residence of R. H. 

Lynn. He was 69 years of age.



Mr. Straughan was the owner of the mine of that name in the Berdan section. He 

bought the property four years ago and sent his brother, George Straughan, to 

take charge of it. The latter died last October. Straughan then came and later 

leased the property. He was taken sick while here, dying of chronic bronchitis.
