Born in Yuba City on Dec 4, 1870 Mrs McPherrin moved to Sutter when she was a young girl and lived there for the remainder of her life. Her home in Sutter is one of the few remaining two story Victorian type structures. McPherrin was stricken when she was visiting her daughter during the holiday season. She had been in critical condition for several weeks. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Fox, early settlers. In 1892 she was married to William Henry McPherrin, also a native of Sutter, whose parents came to California in 1859 and settled on a 300 acre ranch. Her husband died in 1946. Among other activities, Mrs McPherrin was librarian at the Sutter County branch library in Sutter for 30 years. She had served as worthy matron of Fidella chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Yuba City, belonged to Marysville Nile Club, White Shrine of Jerusalem and Menzelah Temple of Sacramento. She served as noble grand of the Yuba City Rebekah Lodge and was a former president of the Sutter Parlor of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. She served terms as president of the Sutter Woman's Community Club and the WHO club of Sutter. Mrs McPherrin was a member of the Sutter Community Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, W . H. McPherrin Jr of Marysville and Robert Verne McPherrin of Sutter; two daughters, Mrs Alvira Parker of Yuba City and Mrs Walsh of Oroville; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services have been set for 2 pm Monday in Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City with Fidelia Chapter, OES, assisting in conducting the rites. Interment will be in Sutter Cemetery.
