Wimmer was taken off the barbed wire fence on the Humboldt road at the dumping grounds this afternoon by linemen of the Northern California Power Company. He had been electrocuted by the 2300- volt wire of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, which had burned in two and fallen upon the fence. Seventy-five yards from this scene, along the fence, a cow was found dead. A woman who gave the name of Mrs. Compton, passing in an automobile saw Weimer [sic] on the fence. She drove rapidly toward town and met the two linemen M.S. Carsey and D. P. Lightfoot, they returned to the scene immediately. Wimmer was lying across the fence, a leg on each side. He was horribly burned on the thighs, abdomen and forehead. The line evidently fell at the moment Wimmer was on the fence. Wimmer lived at 917 Ivy street. He had been gathering scrapes of junk, which he had stacked in a heap, preparatory to taking them home. Wimmer was 43 years old and was formerly a minister. He leaves a wife and five children. Deputy Coroner Frank Nau took charge of the body, which was removed to the Fetters & Williams mortuary chapel. An inquest will be held by Coroner Johnson tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock.” END File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ca/butte/obits/w/wimmer105ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/cafiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
