L. Miles "Bud" Nelson 
March 19, 1924 - January 17, 2005



L. Miles "Bud" Nelson, retired Auto Dealer of Murphys, California, passed away 
on Monday, January 17, 2005. He was 80 years old.
Mr. Nelson was born in Henning, Minnesota and was raised in Litchfield, 
Minnesota. He served his country in The United States Marine Corps. Mr. Nelson 
raised his family in Litchfield, Minnesota and Petaluma, California, before 
settling in Murphys in 1988.
Mr. Nelson was an active member of several organizations including: The 
Shriners, Sons in Retirement, AARP and The Masons. The Masonic Lodge of Murphys 
recently honored Mr. Nelson for his fifty years of service. Bud Nelson loved to 
travel, and play bridge and backgammon with his wife, Marilyn. He was an avid 
reader and adored his beloved granddaughter, Gracie Jo Hickerson.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Marilyn. He was a devoted father to Kevin 
Nelson, Kurt Nelson and his wife, Camilla, Kerry Hickerson and her husband, 
Jim. Bud Nelson was a dear stepfather to Linda Hartman, Heidi Grumet and her 
husband, Mike, Tom Hartman and Debbie Hartman. He had three grandchildren: 
Gracie Jo Hickerson, Henry and Sarah Grumet. His brother, Jim Nelson and his 
wife, Sis, also survived Mr. Nelson.
A private family gathering to celebrate Bud Nelson's life was held at his home 
on Friday, January 21, 2005. 
The family prefers memorials in the form of a donation to: The Arthritis 
Foundation, 3040 Explorer Drive, Suite #1, Sacra- mento, CA 95827-2729.
